The Scruffts Family Crossbreed Dog of the Year final took place on Sunday 4 November 2001 in front of an enormous and very vociferous crowd.

Dog of the Year went to Kati, a Saluki cross with three legs, owned by an overjoyed Daphne Greenall from Eastbourne and a hugely popular winner. Her previous owners threw her onto a motorway under a juggernaut but she survived her horrific injuries.

Daphne was especially pleased as so many people have told her she should have put her to sleep. Kati is a very jolly bitch and flew round the ring despite her handicap, loving every moment in front of the audience.

A beautiful crystal trophy was presented to the winner by actor Ricky Tomlinson and June Minns, the judge and assistant judge respectively, and all competitors received gifts from PAL, the sponsors.
